MACLEC SHK Turbines have the potential to be the next reliable, environment-friendly alternative of renewable energy generation at local level for farmers & villagers as well as for our global cus-tomers. They can also generate additional income by supplying surplus electricity to the grid. At the same time, MACLEC SHK-EMU, the next-generation energy storage & management solution, is a far better alternative to other existing solutions for managing the demand & supply of renewable energy Having explained the key benefits of these innovations in detail and our core philosophy be-hind developing them, we understand you may still have some questions. Here. we’ve tried to an-swer a few of those.

Unlike other turbines, SHK Turbines are surface water velocity driven hydrokinetic turbine, which means its turbine rotor remains installed in half submerged manner and does negligible blockage in water way. RPM is also very low which doesn't harm aquatic life. Overall efficiency of SHK Tur-bines is almost twice from the efficiency of other hydrokinetic turbines because of the unique blade profile, which provides hydrodynamic advantage of SHK. Also, SHK Turbines can be installed in as less as 0.5 meter/second water velocity, ~0.4 meter water depth, and ~3 meter width to generate electricity. Whereas other hydrokinetic turbines need higher velocity & depth, and it limits their in-stallation sites. SHK Turbines can be installed with a minimum cost and being indigenous, the spare parts are easy to find and repair. As there is no any permanent civil construction, land procurement, forest, and wildlife displacement involved, SHK Turbines are completely environmental neutral. Neither do they pollute the environment and water bodies nor emit any GHG emission.

The overall capital cost of SHK-EMU depends on the size of the installation. With respect to every installation, the investment is approximately two times less than that needed for conventional pump storage in hydro power plants and 5 times less in comparison with batteries.

SHK Turbines can be installed in any kind of running stream (such as rivers, rivulets, canals, back-waters, and even in sewage drains) having at least 0.5 meters/second velocity and just 0.1 meters water depth.

One module of SHK Turbine having 5 KW capacity can make a farmer completely energy inde-pendent as well as provide an annual income of around 1.5 lakh rupees by selling surplus electrici-ty. There are more than 15 crore Indian farmer families that can be the direct beneficiaries of SHK Turbines and can be energy independent as well as increase their farm income by selling surplus power to the grid.

Each single module of SHK Turbines can produce 500 watts to 3000 kW of power.
