At MACLEC Technical Project Laboratory, we take pride in introducing the Surface Hydrokinetic Turbine (SHK Turbine), a groundbreaking innovation by our founders, Mr. Narayan and BalRam Bhardwaj. After over a decade of rigorous research and development, we've successfully created and commercialized a plug-and-play, grid-independent, scalable, and robust modular hydrokinetic turbine technology. This 100% indigenous solution can be installed in various types of running streams, including rivers, rivulets, canals, backwaters, and even sewage drains, provided they have a minimum velocity of 0.5 meters/second and a water depth of just 0.1 meters.

A sustainable energy revolution

Our technology isn't just limited to India; it has the potential to be deployed anywhere globally as a decentralized, low-cost hydro power plant. It offers continuous, round-the-clock renewable hydro power generation without the need for civil structures or causing harm to aquatic and wildlife eco-systems.

The initial power boost

To validate the immense scope and potential of our SHK Turbine, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) initiated a committee chaired by the Central Electricity Authority, National Hydro Power Corporation, Tehri Hydro Development Corporation, IIT Roorkee, and more. This committee com-pared our technology with global alternatives and found it to be the most cost-effective, 100% Indi-an-made base load power supply technology, with the potential to contribute gigawatts of power to India's energy landscape. In October 2021, the Ministry of Power and MNRE released a circular to all CPSUs, PSUs, and State Governments, encouraging the initiation of pilot projects for our technology.

Innovation is at the Heart of SHK Turbines

Introducing one of our first innovations Surface Hydrokinetic Turbines (SHK Turbines) that gener-ate 24x7 renewable hydro energy, with no civil structure required, causing minimal negative impact on our flora, fauna, and the ecosystem that inhabits them. The first-of-its-kind technology we em-ploy to manufacture our SHK Turbines is commercialised in India and can be installed anywhere in the world.

With decade-long research & development and field trials in all kinds of running streams all over India and the world. MACLEC has developed more than 150 different variants of SHK Turbines.

Advantages

State-of-the-art technology:

Unlike other turbines, SHK Turbines are surface water velocity driven and thus have very low RPM and don’t harm aquatic life

Efficiency:

Overall Efficiency of SHK Turbines is almost twice from the efficiency of other hydrokinetic turbines because of their unique blade profile.

Low installation and OEM cost:

SHK Turbines can be installed at an economical cost and are easy to service/repair since they’re indigenously manufactured.

Environmental impact:

Our technology doesn’t emit any GHG emission., and is thus environmental-neutral. Also, the material used is completely recyclable.

Efficient:

1 MW installation reduces 332880 tonnes of GHG emissions - equivalent to saving 366168 tonnes of coal.

Ecological:

Enhances dissolved oxygen level up to 32%, and helps in self-rejuvenation and supporting aquatic life.

Economical:

No civil structure such as dam, reservoir, artificial lake formation, penstock, canal, etc. required.
